Flow video walkthrough

Alan Glennon created a video tutorial for the Flow Data Model Tools. The video steps through the process of importing an interaction matrix into ArcGIS 9.x and representing the flows cartographically. Download it from the Flow Mapping area of the GDI website.

Template

Just for something different, I changed the page template. The old one is archived in case we decide to revert to it.

Papers and Programming

The various groups within GDI have been collaboratively writing and programming. The PIs have been drafting a paper on a general theory of GIS representation. Their graduate students have been taking the theory into practice by programming use cases within GIS.

Geographic Dynamics Initiative

The Geographic Dynamics Initiative (GDI) aims to integrate geographic dynamics into GIS databases. We investigate the fundamentals and cases of geographic dynamics and seek ways to represent geographic phenomena that evolve over space and time. Our team includes researchers from the University of California at Santa Barbara, the University of Oklahoma, and the University of Utah. The website is mainly used for research communication among the members.
